13th August onwards - Swarms of small hoverflies Meliscaeva cinctella Click for photo around Hydrangea flowers being preyed on by European Hornets

3 baby Bullfinches from a resident pair. The first was seen on the 8th, the second joined it on the 11th and the third on the 13th.

A pair of Marsh tits, frequent visitors to the bird feeders in the breeding season, thought to be feeding young who may have fledged on August 5th when both parents' visits to the sunflower hearts were frantic. Seed was pecked into small pieces on the feeder or nearby branch and taken up into the trees.
